Ayla woke to find herself sleeping on Ryan's shoulder. She sat up to see he was awake, Selena was asleep on his other shoulder.
Her eyes stung and she was forced to rub them. She knew they'd be red and puffy due to the fact she had been sobbing for an hour before she fell asleep. When she first awoke from her sleep, she was startled until she heard the propellers of the helicopter and remembered she was fleeing from her home. From the place she grew up. From her parents. Tears were threatening to fall again but she forced them back. Stay strong, Ayla! She told herself and looked out the window. She realized the aircraft was close to landing. Agent Cooper also realized than and quietly woke up Selena. With an embarrassed and quick sorry for falling asleep on his shoulder, she began to get everything ready for the land.
Ayla reached for her bags but Ryan took them instead. She frowned, "I'm able to carry my own things. I'm not a royalty I'm just the presidents daughter," She said simply. Cooper looked at Selena and she shrugged, "Let her carry her own things," Keller said.
Ayla smiled slightly and grabbed her bags as the helicopter landed. Cooper opened the door and helped Ayla and than Keller out of the 'copter. Ayla thanked him and pulled her bags from the helicopter.
Ryan lead her them to a black car with tinted windows. She got in the seat between Selena and Ryan, the driver took all of the bags and placed them into the trunk, when he got in he began driving, very swiftly through the streets. Until now, Ayla realized she was in Canada. She watched the helicopter soon disappear out of sight as it lifted back into the air, and suddenly she became tired again. She soon fell asleep on Selena's shoulder.
Ayla awoke again in an unfamiliar bedroom. The room was plastered with posters of celebrities and other teenager stuff. Her eyes widen with worry until Ryan came into the room. "You're awake!" He said, his eyes light. She rolled her eyes.
"That I am," She said. "Now... where am I?"
"Home," He said and she frowned. "Temporarily," He added.
"You mean we're staying here until it's safe to go back to the White House?" She asked and he nodded.
"What about school? I don't have my teacher's here," Ayla pointed out.
Ryan shrugged, "We figured that out. You'll be going to public school until we need to leave.
"Public school?" Ayla asked with excitement. Her dreams were finally about to come true. The life of a normal teenager.
"Yes, public school," Ryan said.Ayla grinned and instantly ran over to Ryan, wrapping her arms around his waist in a bear hug. "Oh, thank you! Thank you, thank you, thank you!"
Just than Selena walked in. She leaned against the door frame. "I'm assuming you told her she's going to a public school?" She chuckled.
Ryan nodded and Ayla pulled away with a smile.
Suddenly the doorbell rang. "I'll get," Ryan said and answered the door. Selena listened as well as Ayla. It sounded like a woman.
"Hello, I'm Allison Shadin and this is my daughter Lydia Shadin. Welcome to the neighbourhood!" Ayla heard the woman say.
"Thank you," She heard Ryan. "Selena! Ayla!" He called and the two came to investigate. "This is my wife Selena and our daughter Ayla," Ryan said and put his arm around Selena. Selena gave the woman a smile. She nudged Ayla and Ayla smiled.
"Hi," Lydia said and stuck out her hand.
"Hey," Ayla said and shook the girl's hand politely. She was confused. Was that their story? Ryan and Selena were 'married' and she was their 'daughter'?
I can't believe they don't recognize me! Ayla thought with a smile.
After a moment of silence, Ryan stepped by. "Come in," He invited and gestured with his hand. Ayla turned to look at her new environment for the first time. The house already had furniture and it didn't look like anything had been packed. Maybe Dad's agents set it up... She thought.
Mrs. Shadin stepped into the doorway, followed by Lydia.
After awhile of laughs and enjoyable chit-chat, the Shadin's went home. With relief, Ayla stood up and stretched. She had never lounged around and pretended to be someone else's daughter before.
"You should go to sleep," Keller said as she looked at the analog clock. It read ten o'clock.
"Why?" Ayla asked.
"Your first day of public school is tomorrow," Ryan chuckled.
Ayla smiled and nodded, than headed to her temporary room.
